The order is Andalite first, Hork Bajir, and Vissser.
However, chronologically they go Hork Bajir, Andalite, and then Visser.

in number order: andalite, hork-bajir, visser and go right after MM#4 and before ellimist.
in publishing order: andalite, hork-bajir, visser. andalite is...either before or after #13. Hork-bajir is after #22. Visser is after #35.
in chonological order: hork-bajir, andalite, visser, and go right after ellimsit before #1.

just to be an anal-retentive jerk really quick; techniqucially HBC is after andalite chronicles chronologically cuz it's a story being narrated to Tobias that he relays to us.

okay, I'll go back over here now

Yep
techniquecially (man I can't spell that word) chronological order puts Andalite Chronicles at overlap with the start of book 1, HBC after book 22, Visser overlapping the end of 35 and Ellimist Chronicles overlapping like, chapter 4 or something of book 54.

And that's the end of that chapter

actually, I don't think there's any proof that hork-bajir chronicles happened after #22. we only think that because that's when it was published.

Fair enough; I should have said before 23 instead of after 24, but seeing as it has some important information introduced there (i.e. Toby) that is first mentioned in that standard books in 23, I find it a safe assumption

well it's definetly before #23. in #23 tobais said he's been to the hork-bajir valley and met toby before. HBC was the only time.

I think that makes it a fairly safe assumption

Personally, I believe it's important to read the whole series in the correct chronological order (i.e. publishing order).

not really. TAC was published around #13, but the prologue and epilogue happened back in book 1. TEC was published around book 47, but the prolouge and epilogue happened in book 54. Just because it was published some time, doesn't mean that's when it happened.

well for TAC I think publishing order is definitely better cuz if you didn't you'd knew Tobias's lineage way too early, it'd be no fun.
Also the point of that is to show what Elfangor was. For 13 books he's this legendary hero, champion of our little team of heroes, then TAC comes in and says "no see, he messed up too, he wasn't a war god, he bad mistakes, learned and got lucky, just like these guys are doing."
Which is why TAC is after 13 on my next reread-normally I do it first.

I don't know where to but TEC, I think the publishing in order would be better, just cuz it really throws off the "this is the very end" feel of the series, plus it kinda seems real obvious who's gonna go first if it's done b/w 53 & 54.  Even though I already know :P

IMO, it's best to read it in the order it was published. Andalite, Hork-Bajir, Visser (after #35), and Ellimist (after MM#4)

Well you definitely want to wait to read Visser until after #35 or it won't make any sense, since it's so closely tied to the events of the main series, even overlapping #35!

Yeah, but the publishing time is when KA intended for us to find out that informationn

It just makes more sense to read them in publishing order...We learn Elfangor's story of how he created Visser Three and then became Tobias' father after we find out he's Tobias' father in the regular series. It just makes more sense.
There's a method to my madness, I just haven't figured it out yet.

First time through, yeah, they need to be read in publishing order. But upon re-reading the series, after having already read it, I'm finding chronological order is a lot of fun, cause you already know all the information anyway, so it's not like you're not finding it out when K.A. didn't want you to or anything. But for your first time reading the series, then yeah, I suggest publishing order.

you mean before right? we dont find it out in the reg series til 23, which i like better that way

i agree publishing order is the way to go, i especially like how visser 3's story kinda goes backward, we start with him as all powerful v3, then we see him as subvisser with ambitions of getting an andalite host (TAC), then we see him as a hostless yeerk and his first andalite encounter(HBC). Hes really got a great story. The same is kinda said about the yeerks as a whole, as we go back through their story.

And obviously its great how we get to assume certain things about the characters and then have things changed up in the chronicles, especially TAC and TEC

The story that's being told in Visser, not the court room stuff, but the story within the story, the flashbacks if you will, where do they take place in relation to the rest of the Chronicles inner stories?
