oooooooooh Mr. Shawn Ashmore recently came out with an interview about his memories on the set of animorphs

based on this interview, I don't think he ever read the books ::)

Movies based books and other things people already know sell really well. That's why reboots and book adaptations are constantly made.

Who the hell are Tobias's aunt and uncle? I assume the siblings of the guy Tobias originally thought was his dad, but really how the hell did they get roped into caring for him

Yup, mentioned in #49.  Loren had some serious brain damage after her universe-resetting car accident, so she couldn't take care of Tobias and someone sent him to live with his aunt.  I'm guessing the aunt and uncle divorced shortly after, seeing as he was passed back and forth.

I suppose I've always taken the "whoever she was" part of that as an indicator that she wasn't a real sister. Unlikely to be an out and out imposter, maybe a sister in law or even step sister.
Just seems off to me that it'd be her real sister.

But if that is the case, what man agrees to take care of an ex-wife's nephew after a divorce. Especially since it's clear he didn't care about Tobias either?

     At first I figured they were a divorced couple. But I think that they were relatives from different sides. The aunt being Loren's sister, and the uncle being the brother of Tobias' step-father.
