To quote the great Devin Townsend from the Strapping Young Lad show at Download Festival 2006:

"STOP CLAPPING!"

Anyway, am I the only one who finds the Drode's character oddly hilarious? Like, I find a sort of weird humor in him tearing apart the Animorphs in book 27.

The Drode's friggin' awesome.  Also, he has Gilbert Gottfried's voice, he just does.  Pretty much the only easy, "bam!  done!" casting for a movie, not tricky at all.

I love the Drode.  Just really wish he had more screentime.

People always say "offscreen" or "screentime," even when they're talking about books. Why?
yeah

Drode is one of my favourite characters.

Also what did I miss that got you -7 karma?

Well, I'm the boss... Head Honcho. El Numero Uno. Mr. Big. The Godfather. Lord of the Rings. The Bourne... Identity. Er... Taxi Driver. Jaws. I forgot the question quite a while back. Who are you, again?

Quite a bit. Let's not go back there.

You know that thing where characters have a voice in your head when you read the book? I always imagined the Drode to have a Southern drawl for some reason. I dunno. Foreigner complex, I guess. :P

that's what I imagined it as too. Gotta love drode.

Also I did a bit of stalking and let's just say I chose a good month to disappear.

One of my top ten quotes of the series came from the Drode: "Cassie, the killer with a conscience.  Kill 'em, then cry over 'em, that's our Cassie."  I mean, dang, he was the only character in the entire series who was actually able to see Cassie for what she really was (up until book 50, at least).

Yanno, I kinda think he's actually smarter than Crayak is.  The Drode keeps making these on-point observations about the Animorphs, while Crayak perpetually fails to predict what the Animorphs will do, wildly underestimating them to his own downfall.  I think, if Crayak stepped down and promoted the Drode to replace him, the guy would start winning against the Ellimist.

Fanfic pls?

That's exactly how I always thought of Cassie. Now that I'm older, I understand her better.. but as a (pre)teen, I was just always intensely annoyed by her :P

I never got what the perceived problem with the 'killer with a conscience' stuff was.  Isn't that what you'd want the Animorphs to be?  Just because she cares about sentient life, doesn't mean she can't kill them when it's necessary, it's not a binary thing.

Person Of Interest re-watch.  Still stunning as ever.

It was more a jab at how hypocritical her whole mindset was.  If she actually cared about non-violence, she really should've put more effort to finding a non-violent solution to the war.  Instead, she just wanted to be controlling and preachy, trying to use a perceived moral high ground as a way to lever people into doing what she felt comfortable with (which didn't necessarily line up with any kind of sane morality all the time).

There wasn't a non-violent option, though.  It was pretty simple "they're an invading force with superior ability, it's us or them" rationale.

Doesn't mean she can't feel bad about killing them.  She's willing to do it, though.
