Well, "Visser" was a coincidence according to something I read by her in an interview where she talks about mixing names or corrupting words. (Visser is apparently a common name in another language.) But I can't imagine it happened too many times. I used to entertain naming a kid "Maximilian" so I could make Aximili a nickname, hahaha.

Apparently his middle name is a corrupted LoTR town name, Esgaroth.

Oh my god, I never told anyone here about the time a red-tailed hawk was hovering against the window of my synagogue and making noise against the window. WELL NOW YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING. Which was "Tobias wants to convert!"

Seeing red-tails doing funny things is the best! I remember seeing a red-tail air-battle what looked like an osprey once, and totally thinking "this is why you need to stop hitting on Rachel, Marco".

I've actually found a new respect for seagulls after reading the Animorphs series again.

Sure, Tobias hates them--and, since Tobias is my favourite character I should hate them as well--but whenever I see a seagull eating trash, or doing something irritating--which is approximately 90% of the time--I think, "Will those kids ever learn how to control those morphs?"

Pg. 1 Book 5:

"Marco McCain. Has kind of a nice sound, doesn't it?"

Lol forever and ever in retrospect.

I don't know if anyone else noticed it, but David wasn't in the group for very long. I mean, they find out about David getting the box and the summit meeting around the same time--give or take a day-- and after talking to Erek, they head over to David's place to steal the box. The next day, David talks to Marco and tells him about the email, and Marco ditches school to steal the box. David becomes an Animorph later the next day, and they pretty much leap into the attack on the resort the summit is taking place. They escape the very same day and the next day, David is outed as a traitor and seemingly kills Tobias. The rest of the trilogy takes place over the course of a few days and nights. So David is really only part of the group for about a week, give or take a few days.

I don't know about you, but it seems like the whole ordeal should have taken a little longer.

I loved that it took place so quickly, actually. By #22, you very much felt the exhaustion and witlessness the Anis were running on, and the fact that David could nearly bring them to their knees that fast made him seem way more dangerous. When reading it, I really never felt like there was time to breathe, which worked for the story. It was one disastrous week for them.

I think the quick pace also helped explain David's quick downturn - the other Anis were partially used to insane missions with huge implications, but David was not. The psychological strain of facing Visser 3, losing his parents and home, learning about the war, becoming an Animorph, and having to go on such a huge mission all in such a small timespan would have been enough to drive almost anyone to look for an escape, and his chosen escape (unfortunately) was to attempt destroying the other Animorphs. If he had had more time to settle into his new role, perhaps he would have turned out better.

+karma. I googled visser, and yes, Visser is a last name. In what language, I do not know. But with out that post, I would have never thought of that.
Last night, I laid back in my bed staring up at the stars, and I thought to myself ... I probably should fix that hole in my roof.

But it also implied that David knew how to use their powers better than they did.

O.o It's not implied at all. Maybe that he thought he knew how.

Yeah, TMP, I didn't get that. David was ****y, and he had the benefit of not having any other obligations besides stalking them, but I wouldn't say he knew how to use his powers better. Maybe he had a bit of a fast learning curve, but he didn't seem objectively better than them.

He seemed to know how to control his morphs faster than the others. He was able to morph from Marco to himself without getting too much attention, and he beat Jake's tiger.

Controlling morphs never take that long. O.o And it's mostly only a problem the first time. And obviously he had no trouble with morphing Marco--there are no unfamiliar instincts there. ::)

He beat the tiger because of terrain and luck. Jake mentioned that the mane was a problem and he made a mistake of standing on the skylight. He couldn't control the golden eagle instincts the first time either.
