idk I always assumed they never called thought-speech telepathy because it's not really telepathy

I mean throughout the series, there are three or four DIFFERENT kinds of telepathy which would get kind of confusing if she had simply referred to them all as "telepathy." There's the way the Ellimist communicates, the way the Leerans communicate, and then the Andalite version, each of which are nonverbal and slightly different.

If anything, I wish she would have been more specific with thought-speech. It's telepathy, but everyone seems to have a "voice," at least, people can tell who is saying what. You could just say this is everyone's *personality* shining through, but the few times it happens, there never seems to be a problem when one Andalite morphs another. Didn't Aldrea sneak into the room with the Quantum Virus by morphing Alloran? Wouldn't the guards have been able to tell that her voice was all high and feminine?

And then at one point in The Andalite Chronicles Elfangor say something like, "that's not really how thought speech works" when referring to specific words, WELL THEN WHY THE HELL ARE THERE SO MANY MADE UP ANDALITE *WORDS* ugh idgi tbh
I go off topic on purpose.

Thought speak started as emotional communication.  It then evolved to specific words but it goes beyond language.  Its complicated and could have been explained better but I think the basic concept works.  I never considered it telepathy.  Animorphs is science fiction.

in Andalite Chronicles, Elfangor says something like 'The humans understood us, because thought speech doesn't use words so much as thoughts and ideas'. Well, if that's the way Andalite's speak, is that how the Animorphs speak when in morph?

You can laugh or you can cry. Personally? I do both. At the same time.
Animorphs: The first 10 were light, funny, still innocent. But slowly, it got darker, more moral, passionate and mature. And then it was messy, bloody. It was chaos. It was the end.

I always thought of it as still being able to hear the words of whatever language they were thought-speaking and not understanding those, but beyond that understanding the meaning of what they were saying.
...that made no sense...but I think of it as like subtitles in a movie or something.

On another note, the many many sentence fragments throughout the books are really annoying.

I've always understood thought-speak to work as such:

There are no actual words, but rather universal concepts.  That's why anyone can understand thought-speak.  But, when you hear it in your head, you process it as English (or whatever you speak).  Then, I figured that words like "Nothlit" and "Shorm" have no human equivalent, so when a human mind "hears" it in thought-speak it processed using English and produce phonetic words like "shorm" and "nothlit", which would sound different in, say, Taxxon language.

I wonder why the Yeerks use the word bandit when they see the "Andalites"? A bandit is supposed to be like an outlaw type or something, right? Someone who goes against the laws? I don't get it.
