Marco (or any of the animrophs, even rachel) were afraid of the yeerk pool. Rachel in one of her books even said that. And it wasn't just thought. She admitted to tobias and even the other animorphs that she was afraid.

well yes, but the point is, not what the characters felt bout the words, but would they actually say them. and u would not hear rachel say " i dont wanna go to the yeerk pool, it scares me"

just like u wouldnt hear marco say "i LOVE when we go to the yeerk pool!" in all seriousness. he would say in in a sarcastic way

no but you wouldn't hear rachel say "I love when we go to the yeerk pool" either. She may be gung ho but not that gung ho.

Besides, you said deadly serious meaning he really felt that way. none of the animorphs felt that way so all of the animorphs would fit that.
