A cat. Cats are completely independant; I have two and it's slmost impossible to make them do anything. That reflects me a little.

Five possibilities:
1. Gyrfalcon (have you seen one? AWESOMENESS)
2. Swallow-Tailed Kite (most beautiful flyers on Earth)
3. Orca (OWNS the ocean!)
4. Raccoon (have you ever ticked off a raccoon? If you have, you'd understand WHY.)
5. Skunk (NOBODY messes with a skunk...except hawks...who have no sense of smell.)
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

From Animorphs? Yeerk or Andalite.

Earth creatures? I don't know, maybe a dolphin or a whale. I always loved the water.

If only I could think of an animal that could swim, live on land, and fly. Then I'd know my answer. I guess a dog (with a good owner who had a pool) that would be alright.

Waterfowl and Seabirds.
Easy!

Actually, the most adaptable on the planet are, in no particular order:
1. Mosquito
2. Bee
3. Ant
4. Termite
5. Peregrine Falcon and Barn Owl (which has an unfortunate 2-year lifespan)
6. Starling (foul little bird!)
6. Pigeon (foul little bird!)
6. Gull (foul little bird!)
7. Rat/mouse

Yes, I know there are 3 sixes. Starlings, Gulls, and Pigeons are, in my opinion, Hellspawn.

Gotta go with the classic Red-Tailed Hawk...unless I wanted to be spoiled, then it would have to be conditional upon having a great owner, in which case I'd be a ****atiel.

Runners up are: Black Bear, Siberian Tiger (only in a zoo, in the wild is too cold and risky for my liking), housecat (spoiled variety), and bottle-nosed dolphin.

6. Starling (foul little bird!)
6. Pigeon (foul little bird!)
6. Gull (foul little bird!)

I second that...add Mockingbirds to the list of Hellspawn...

Any sense of sci-fi/fantasy? A demonic beast of the deepest, most blackest times infenity pits of hell demon beast.

Realism? A fish of some form. Or a dolphin. Something in the water.

a mosquito has an even shorter lifespan than a falcon, as far as i know.  ;D
If you really want to live life long, you most likely have to be a strong predator.

actually some turtles live for over a hundred years. wouldn't a turtle or tortoise be a better choice if you want to live long?

Hmm... actually, if you live your life as a starfish, you might live forever, just split yourself before you die of old age.
