Big debate about two words.

I'm probably making someone very angry!  ::)

lol I like being able to say I want a cracker. and having people think it's something dirty though! I think nigga should be banned though if cracker is. But I'm fine with both being unbanned. I hate when words are banned. Tyler using it doesn't offend me, coz he doesn't use it in a derogatory way. So I don't think it's very offensive. :\

I don't think we need any censorship at all.  We're all mature enough not to use offensive language, aren't we?

I actually think I remember it being censored immediately after Tyler over used a bunch of bad words.

...Unless it wasn't, and I'm imagining that.
There's a method to my madness, I just haven't figured it out yet.

My name change is to state a point.

Cracker is not offensive, at all. Its a foodstuff. A very nice foodstuff.

Nigga on the other hand, it offends me. It offends Adam. Thats two offended people and nothings being done about it. That makes me sad. I let it go the first time I asked, but now Adam agrees with me, and I figure, why not fight for it.
If a word describing a food can be banned for Tyler, why can't an actual offensive word be banned for me.

Is it that much to ask? Keep cracker banned if you must, but then theres no reason nigga shouldn't be banned.

Maybe it doesn't bother or offend you Rich, but it offends me. If my opinion doesn't matter, then so be it.. but I thought... ah forget it...

Everyone's opinion is respected; even yours Claire.

Here is my reasoning for censoring Cracker:

Cracker:
Used as a disparaging term for a poor white person of the rural, especially southeast United States.

My views on censorship are pretty well known to everyone who frequents chat.

Let's not censor anything and trust that everyone is mature enough to handle language. We are (almost) all adults here after all.

But isn't that how it is with the word 'nigga'? Only it applies to black people instead of whites. And that one isn't censored.

Ok, I found this definition from UrbanDictionary. This is the definition of nigga I subscribe to:

Quote
Nigga is a word which evolved from the derogative term "****". Tupac best defined the distinction between the two.

****- a black man with a slavery chain around his neck.

NIGGA- a black man with a gold chain on his neck.
Tupac defined the word[

But if we're just going by what urban dictionary says then there's a lot of words that should be banned.

I'm not going by urban dictionary. I guess it's culture, because that word is used commonly here. I only cited UrbanDictioanry because it had the definition we used.

edit: as I've said in the chat, all words on the chat have been uncensored now.
