Title: GESB: Sanctuary Dimension
Post by: General Squall Leonhart on September 14, 2011, 01:22:12 PM
Deep beneath the land lies a room of vast proportions. This room is surrounded on three sides by stone and earth while the fourth opens into an abyss that seems to be endless. The room is bathed in a reddish orange light that emanates from the abyss. The source of the light is a stone of such magnitude, its size is immeasurable. The stone is shaped like an egg and hovers in the abyss of its own volition. This is the Worldstone and its purpose is to keep the land in balance.

A walkway extends from the vast room into the abyss and ends at the gargantuan stone. At the end of this walkway stands a being of great power and evil. This being has features similar to a human male: his face, arms, and torso; however the similarities end there. This being stands at an astounding and awe-inspiring twelve feet in height. From his head extend three long tentacles that go to his waist and hang loosely behind him; but they allow him to use them as weapons by whipping his head toward an enemy. There are what appear to be spider leg-like appendages extending from his neck and go to the middle of his bicep. The purpose of these is unknown. He walks upon four jointed legs like a spider and possesses great speed and agility. This is the powerful demon called “Baal, the Lord of Destruction”, and is the last of the Prime Evil Lords. He faces the man who killed the other Prime Evil Lords, his brothers.

A man stands at the opposite end of the walkway. He stares into the abyss at the great stone and the greater demon. This man is clothed in black leather and wears a chestplate of steel. He holds a wooden staff that is three and a half feet in length, adorned with a fist sized ruby, in his right hand. His face is accented with twin scars, he purposely carved, to signify his victories over the Prime Evil Lords. The first scar is thin, perhaps a half inch wide, and begins above his right eye ending below his left eye. It signifies his defeat of Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred. The second scar is thick, perhaps an inch wide, and begins above his left eye ending below his right eye. It signifies his defeat of Diablo, the Lord of Terror. His eyes are his most unique feature for they represent great significance in his species’ lore. His right eye is a sparkling sapphire blue; while his left eye is a shimmering emerald green. This is a man of powerful magic, determination, and courage. This man has already become a legend and a hero for liberating towns that were under threat of annihilation. This is Larry Foulke and he is a Druid from the forests of Sanctuary. He faces his greatest and final challenge, to save the Worldstone and the land of Sanctuary. To accomplish this, he must destroy the Prime Evil Lord. He must destroy “Baal, the Lord of Destruction”.

This room, the stone, the demon and the man all reside deep beneath the land of the mountain. This mountain, called Mount Arreat, is sacred to the Barbarian Tribes. At the base of the mountain lies a town, called Harrogath, where the Gates to Mount Arreat are located. One cannot climb the mountain without going through this town and being granted permission to enter the Gates. In this town lies a portal that glows with a blue light and randomly flashes with lights of white. All the townspeople know that this is how Larry's comrades will appear. They know that the Druid, Larry, is in danger because otherwise the portal would never have appeared. An old man with a short white beard and balding head stands before the portal. He holds a wooden walking stick that is perhaps five feet in length and holds it firmly while standing tall proudly. One look at this man is enough to instinctively know he has immense wisdom and knowledge. One look into his eyes is enough to see that this man deserves respect and his words of wisdom should be followed without question. This is Deckard Cain and he is the last of the Horadric Mages. He waits to greet Larry’s comrades and help them with his knowledge.

Jocun goes through the portal, and at the other end looks to be a sort of town. The fifty year old Human controller, wearing Imperial armor and holding his rifle, stands a few steps in front of the portal, taking in as much as he can while standing face to face with another Humanoid person.

"My name is Jocun 119. I am looking for a person who was dragged unwillingly through this portal. Who are you, and do you know anything about this?"

Noah stumbles through the other side of the portal throwing her off balance for she had never experienced something quite like that, nor knew of its existence. When she looked back up and gathered herself, she saw the town that appeared medieval to her for it seemed there was no electrical technology around. The people all looked normal to her, human, which relaxed some part of her she didn't know was tense. Though, she better than most, knew people didn't always stay appearing human.

When Noah heard Jocun talking, she turned her attention back on him then saw the man to which he spoke. He was an elderly man, but he seemed to give off an ora that demanded respect and felt like an honorable man. She walked up closer to Jocun to introduce herself, but let him do the rest of the talking.

"Noah Reese." She stared at him blankly keeping her sunglasses firmly in place, guard up completely once more. She relaxed her hands waiting for someone to make the first move feeling like it'll happen at any moment.

Sami had tried to go through the portal first, but somehow came out last. She lost her grip on Grun as the world's blinding light hit her, making her curse softly as she tripped over herself. She could feel Grun wobble and release her shoulder, no doubt flying up so as to not fall in the dirt. She caught herself quickly with her hands, the impact jarring her wrists. She slowly stood up, wincing as she began rubbing her wrists. She dusted off her cloak and joined Jocun and Noah. "We need to know where Larry Foulke is." She didn't bother introducing herself. She just wanted to find Larry. But she did hope that her green-ish appearance didn't disturb these people.

When Sami and Grun came through the portal Sami was slightly disoriented and tripped. Grun released her shoulder and flapped a few times to the ground. When Sami stood up and regained her composure he flapped back up to land on her shoulder.

***********************************************************************************************************

As the comrades of Larry emerge from the portal, the townspeople of Harrogath gave eachone a scrutinizing look. The male holding a odd shaped wooden club and wearing, what appeared to be, Paldinian armor was dismissed rather quickly. The next person through was a female that looked to be an Assassin with strange coverings on her eyes, signaling she may be blind, was dismissed as quickly as the Paladin. The third female, however, was the one who caught everyones attention immediately. She was wearing a cloak and did not seemed to have any weapons on her, however, the true shock was that she had green skin. This female was either a demon or she was very ill, though Deckard Cain had said that the beings that came through the portal would be allies of Larry.

Deckard Cain gave each of them his own assessing look and determined that these individuals were up to the task of assisting Larry. As he stepped forward to address them, the portal slowly shrank and disappeared. They were now stuck with no way to return to the Galaxy's Edge Space Bar. Deckard Cain bowed slightly to the group and addressed them.

"Greetings, comrades of Larry Foulke. I am Deckard Cain and I have traveled with Larry since he rescued me from imprisonment in Tristram. I must apologize to you, but Larry was not taken through the portal you just came through. Baal, the Lord of Destruction, created his own portal and brought Larry to him in The Worldstone Chamber, located deep within Mount Arreat." Deckard Cain indicates the tall mountain behind him. "You must climb to the summit of Mount Arreat. There you will face three challenges to determine if you are worthy to enter the sacred mountain. Be cautious, the mountain has its own dangers, and Baal has sent out many demons to thwart anyone from pursuing him." As he finished speaking, Deckard Cain bows slightly and moves to the side, allowing them passage to the Gates of Mount Arreat.

"Thank you." Jocun said. He noticed the portal closed, but felt there wasn't much he could do about it for now. They'd just have to find a way back after rescuing Larry. Assuming he was still alive. "What could we expect of these challenges and the demons?"

Noah looked about seeing the large mountain the old man had referred to. She gazed over the crowd and quickly realized they were all sizing them up, but weren't interested in neither Jocun nor herself. She couldn't help but smirk at the understatement of it all. She started to feel the remission of energy behind her and looked. Her eyes widened as the portal closed, though, no one would be able to see them. She grit her teeth and took up a position off to the left and back of Jocun looking out toward the crowd covering this section. Trusting if they were to be attacked, that Jocun and Sami had their areas covered. Noah continued to let Jocun speak for them taking in the information. She would play the role of body guard and warrior for now.

Deckard Cain looked at the man, Jocun 119, who had spoken and replied "I can not accurately tell you what demons and challenges await you and your group, brave Paladin. However Qual-Kehk, the Senior Man-at-arms of Harrogath should have the information you seek." Deckard Cain gestured with his walking stick towards a tall, burly man wearing bronze armor over his body. "He and his men have done extensive scouting in the mountains. He is also the only man to have climbed to the summit of Mount Arreat and come back down alive. You would do well to seek his advice before you begin your ascent."

Jocun bowed slightly to Deckard, and walked over to talk to Qual-Kehk. The word paladin meant nothing to him, and he didn't spare the time to ask what it was or explain what exactly he was. It might actually be best if these Humans thought he was one of them. "Sir Qual-Hehk. May I have a word with you about the mountain? My group plans to scale it to rescue Larry Foulke, and we'd like to know what we're up against before setting out."

Sami finally regained her composure. She looked around at the village people, seeing that they dismissed Jocun and Noah rather quickly, but stared at her a bit. She assumed it was her skin color. She shifted and moved closer to her friends. Grun was back on her shoulder, and she pet him. She turned to Deckard Cain. "Is there anything else you can tell us about this thing that took Larry? Like, what powers does he have?" Her arms splayed out a bit, but not enough to reveal anything from under her cloak except her legs.

Noah stayed back with Sami not thinking it was smart for Jocun to run off on his own like that. Even though these people are allies of Larry's doesn't mean it's smart to separate. She thought furiously to herself trying to watch both their backs, but quickly gave up and just paid attention to those near Sami and herself. She tried to relax but wasn't having much luck with it having so many unfamiliar people around them.

"My name is Qual-Kehk" The large burly man named Qual-Kehk said as he turned to regard the male that had emerged from the portal. Deckard Cain had said that this was a comrade of Larry, the Druid. He was surpried that a Paladin was addressing him, for he had always admired their honorable way of fighting. "A Paladin! I've long heard of your people. As a young warrior I even considered a pilgrimage to Kurast, but I was younger then, and foolish. My place has always been here, protecting Harrogath and Mount Arreat with it. Your comrade, Larry took care of most of the demons so the trek up should not be blocked, however it is still very dangerous. The mountain terrain is rife with vast open expanses of land, snow-covered tundras, and an extensive network of ice caves." Qual-Kehk turned to gaze upon Mount Arreat as he finished speaking.

Deckard Cain turned to regard the green-skinned female. He had assumed that she was ill, but from the looks of it she was quite healthy. He realized that the Raven perched upon the womans shoulder was Grun, Larrys Raven. It was this that made him realize who the female actually was. "You must be the one Larry called Sami. He talked much about you as we made our way here from the town of Kurast. He seemed to be very much in love you Sami and I have no doubt that you will do anything to save him. The being that took Larry is a very powerful demon named Baal. He is the third Prime Evil Lord, the Lord of Destruction. He has the power to control fire and ice as well as being able to teleport at will. I have heard that he has the ability to create a clone of himself as well. He may have more powers, but I cannot be sure Sami. I wish you and your comrades luck in your journey." As Deckard Cain finished speaking he bowed to Sami Chee and Noah.

Qual-Kehk spoke to Jocun, the man he considered to be a Paladin. "At the summit you must face The Ancients Challenge. In order to gain access to enter the mountain you must engage The Ancients in battle. There are three Ancients and each have a different fighting style. Korlic the Protecter uses a Halberd and is known for his ability to leap over great distances as well as being enchanted with the ability to control ice. Talic the Defender uses a Long Sword and a Shield and is known to have mastered the legedary Whirlwind ability. According to Barbarian lore, the Whirlwind ability allows the caster to spin at a high rate of speed and move around the field of battle. It is a very devasting attack and you should be very cautious. Talic is enchanted with the ability to control fire as well. Finally there is Madawc the Gaurdian who uses twin Axes and is a very quick attacker. He is also enchanted with the ability to control lightning." Qual-Kehk turned to regard the Paladin and continued speaking. "If you are victorious than your only challenge is Baal, the Lord of Destruction. I am sure a Paladin, such as yourself, will be a worty opponet for all of them." As Qual-Kehk finished speaking he bowed slightly.

Sami blinked and took a step back when the man said her name. She didn't realize that he had been told so much about her. She blushed a little bit when he said Larry was in love with her, her eyes sliding away shyly. She wasn't sure if she really was in love with him yet, but she did feel strongly for him. Her eyes returned to Deckard Cain's face when he spoke of Baal. She frowned and nodded. "Ice, fire, cloning, and teleportation.... I should be able to take care of one or two of those alone, but certainly not all four.... Thank the Goddess I brought my companions..." She patted Grun's wing some more as she thought. Then she looked at Cain again.

"Are there any supplies you or your village can give us? Such as bandages and medicine? We may need it. And possibly a bit of food?" She knew they would probably only need meat for Jocun, but she wasn't sure what he would eat. She knew Noah could hunt, and so could Grun, and she herself certainly could. If she needed to. So all they really needed was some fruits and such to go along with them.
Her cloak drifted about int he breeze, only ever revealing as far as her lower thigh, right above her knee. It was obvious she had nothing on underneath, at least, not that long. But the top inch or so, right above where it was tied, fluttered about some, still revealing nothing, if only the fact that she didn't have a high necked shirt on.

"Thank you. Sorry I mispronounced your name before. My friends and I should be leaving shortly to complete our goal." Jocun went back to the others. "Qual-Kehk told me about the challenges. We'll be facing three warriors that can control different elements, and aside from the terrain itsself we probably won't have other problems."

Noah listened to all that Cain had to say about Baal and embedded it into her memory as she fought to keep a blank expression. She nodded pretending she had heard of all these powers existing outside of witch craft, but even then, most of these she thought weren't possible.

Noah couldn't stop it any longer, her jaw dropped as she heard Jocun say they had three more opponents to face with elemental abilities. She drooped her head and shook it side to side thinking furiously how they were going to get past it all. She knew she was a good fighter, but there was a real limit to what she could do. She was no witch. At Sami's last question, Noah began to ponder what they would need, but lacked one vital detail.

"How long will it take to reach Larry where he is?" She asked to anyone who would answer, wether it was Cain or Qual-Kehk didn't matter to her.

"I think that would largely depend on our progress up the mountain. I don't suppose flying is an option. We should probably take supplies if it will be a very long trip."

Sami's face fell when Jocun announced that the larger man said they would have to face three other opponents. They could each take one themselves, but then how would they defeat Baal? They would surely have to rest, but if they did, Larry could die. Sami's green eyes darkened with sadness as she took in all the possibilities. She heard Noah and Jocun, but barely registered. Until Jocun mentioned flying. She turned her face towards him. "I forgot that you do not know what I am capable of. I can shapeshift. I think I can shapeshift something big enough to fly us up there. Or at least, part way up. I haven't tried something that big before..." She chewed in her lower lip as she began thinking of a beast, but tried not to concentrate too much, for she didn't want to immediately start shifting.

"It would be quite convenient to bypass all the challenges, but I have a feeling that there are things in place to keep enemies from simply flying right up to the summit. Unless I'm giving too much credit to the guy in charge up there. I know you must be worried about Larry, and I can't even guaruntee that he's still alive, but we will either rescue him or finish his work by defeating his enemy."

Noah nodded once agreeing to the idea about flying up the mountain as much as they could bypassing creatures along the way.

"One task at a time. Let's focus on getting our materials first. We need food and something for shelter. Maybe a tarp to hang or do u think we can make do with the environment and make shelter as we go?" She asked both Jocun and Sami trying for ideas for what they may need. Noah then addressed the old man before them.

"Who can we talk to to get food for our travel and possibly other material for shelter?"

Sami sighed and nodded at Jocun as she looked up at the mountain looming over them. She could make is probably a fourth of the way up in a flight, and no more than that. She replied to Noah. "I can shift and become adapted to any environment.... Mostly. So I don't neccessarily need shelter. But I will help carry anything we may need." She turned to watch Noah ask Deckard Cain about supplies and where to find them, trying to get the man to respond finally.

Deckard Cain patiently waited for a pause in the conversation before he addressed the party. "If you require medicinal supplies, Malah is the town healer." As Cain spoke, he indicated a large hut about 25 feet away where an old woman could be seen mixing things in jars. "Larzuk, the town blacksmith, can supply you with the best weaponry and armor as well as repairs, should you require them." Deckard Cain pointed out a man in an open hut sticking swords into a forge.

At that moment a young woman walked up to the group carrying what looked like a large tarp wrapped in a bundle tied to several poles, which were tied together. The woman bowed slightly to all of them and set the bunble on the ground in front of Noah. "Hello, Assassin, and welcome to Harrogath. If you are going to scale Mount Arreat, then you will have need of these supplies. There is food and water to last you the two days it takes to get to the Ice Caves. Take exta care in the Ice Caves, for they are very extensive, and it can be quite easy to get lost in there." Anya chucled a bit darkly and continued "Of course, your comrade, Larry, would have left quite a trail for you to follow. Last I knew those Caves were infested with the Yetis, but Larry most likely wiped them out. My advice is to follow the trail of dead monsters to the summit."

At that moment a large Barbarian riding a War horse came galloping into town through the Gates and rode over to Qual-Kehk. The Barbarian spoke to Qual-Kehk in a respectful tone of voice "Sir, a moment of your time!" The Bararian and Qual-Kehk walked some distance away from the group and began talking in a low tone of voice so as not to be heard by the group. From their body language it was clear that something was very wrong

Noah looked toward the healer then the blacksmith and finally realized that she doubt either would truly have anything that would help. She knew the blacksmith would probably just ruin her weapons by pounding them or accidentally fire her gun if he were to see it. She wouldn't need his aid and based on the technology that seemed to go into Jocun's armor, she doubted his weapons were less sophisticated than her own.

Her gaze shifted when a young woman walked toward her and lay a tarp with poles down before her. She kept her face blank and just nodded her thanks to the woman. It took some effort to keep her face from showing how pleased she was with the nickname because it seemed fitting. She wasn't sly, but she always did what needed to be done for her pard, even if it meant 'dealing' with their enemies.

"Thank you for the advice. It will be put to use." Noah turns back to Sami and speaks before walking over to the hut where the healer was located. "I'll take care of the medical supplies, I'll leave you two to the food and whatever else that is needed." She walked up to Malah and bowed slightly with just a tilting of the head keeping eye contact out of habit.

"May I ask what supplies you wouldn't mind sacrificing to our journey up the mountain? What can you offer?" She spoke politely as she could trying to not appear intimidating but her cautious demeanor remained unchanged.

"I thank you for the supplies, though I already have the weapon and skills I'm proficient with. A trail of battle shouldn't be hard to track." He noticed someone talking to Qual, but didn't want to eavesdrop. They had their own things to worry about, unless this business had to do with Larry. He examined what the woman gave, seeing what he might be able to carry by himself.

Sami nodded and let Noah leave. She turned her body just a bit so that she could easily get to Noah if needed. Meanwhile, she turned her head to look at Jocun, who was examining the bundle to see what he could carry. "Jocun, I know Noah can hunt for herself, and I can hunt for myself if needed, so you may be the only one eating most of the rations." She crouched down next to the bundle and made sure it was tied up tight, then she picked it up, hefting it in her arms. "I can help carry, though, since I am sure that your armor is heavy."
Title: Re: GESB: Sanctuary Dimension

"Judging from the way Qual talked, I'm not sure how much there will be to hunt on the mountain. If you can find anything, that's great, but it will still be convenient to have rations. I'm certain you're unaware of this, but all three of us happen to have shapeshifting abilities. Mine are technological in nature, though. However, I don't have any experience hunting for food. As far as my armor goes, it is pretty heavy. That's the price one pays for durability, I suppose. If the need is great enough, I will be forced to morph. My morph's instincts will be strong, so I will be fighting a mental battle as well as a physical one."

Noah's hearing being more than just humans, she overheard what Sami and Jocun were saying. She turned wide eyes back on Sami for having the idea that she could really go without feeding her human body and only her beast. She smiled sweetly toward Malah and excused herself. She struggled to run back to them only human fast. When she reached them, Noah eased her arm around Sami's shoulders and hugged her with one arm close to her and whispered so quiet she wasn't sure if Jocun would hear.

"Uh, Sami. I can't just feed my beast. I need food too. If I only feed her, she will gain the upper hand over me. If I continue to eat, meats preferred, then my control is best. More food the better. I feed my beast when my control is shaky and no more. It's a vile thing to rip a creature to bits." Noah was talking extremely fast mumbling half of her words unable to tell which part she would hear. She smiled nervously at her, not letting any of the villagers see her in a state of distress at the thought of no food for her.

Sami was confused as to Jocun saying he had shapeshifting capabilities. She didn't realize it. She knew Noah did. After all, she had shown up with Noah to Jocun and his companions, and Noah was full beast and then shifted back. She was about to say something back to Jocun when Noah ran over, obviously having heard what they were saying. She groaned in frustration. "I wasn't saying none of that food was for you. And I didn't realize that." She shrugged Noah's arm off, taking a step back. She felt stupid for not having talked it over with any of them, and now felt vulnerable. She didn't know how well they would be able to work together to defeat their enemies if she was being stupid while the other two were level headed.

Malah walked over carrying a large woven basket and handed it to Noah. "Assassin, here is the medical supplies you will need. There is thread and needles for stitching as well as alcohol for cleaning and Ale for pain relief." Malah made a short bow and walked back to her hut as Qual-Kehk approached the group. "I am afraid that your ascent may be in danger. The mountain scout has just informed me that a storm was spotted by the Mountain Barbarians. They are Barbarians that choose to live on the slopes of Mount Arreat and have a keen sense about the area. If they say that a storm is approaching then it is not good. According to the scout here if you don't leave now then the way to the Ice Caves may be blocked. Good Luck in your journey." Qual-Kehk made a short bow and walked away.

Anya spoke up just then. "I assure you, comrades of Larry, there is plenty of food to last on your ascent for all three of you. I imagine that if you run into any of the Mountain Barbarians that Qual-Keks mentioned, they would supply you with extra rations, should you require them. I suggest you heed Qual-Kehks word and leave immediately though. Mount Arreat storms are very treacherous and even the Mountain Barbarians do not leave their huts during the storms. I wish you good luck as well brave warriors." Anya gave a small bow and walked away. Fifty feet straight ahead of the party the Gates to Mount Arreat opened.

Noah took the basket and couldn't help but smile. The items were all so basic but would most certainly help in a time a need. The ale though, that might be a reward rather than pain reliever. Too many consequences would come from drinking it. But Noah took it all graciously and thanked her before turning her attention back to Anya.

She listened to what they all had to say and looked toward the gates as they opened. It all seemed ever so erie to her. Noah looked back toward Sami and Jocun.

"I'm ready when you two are. Did you want to shift or walk?" She asked Sami for she had brought up the idea of flight.

Jocun didn't know if this storm was coincidence or not, but that didn't really matter. Time was up. "Okay, let's head out." He said, and with some supplies on his back he set out at a jog to the path up.

Sami still felt like an idiot for notbeing so level-headed like her companions, so she didn't respond to Noah with words. Instead, she looked to Grun on her shoulder, gently put him on a branch a few feet away so he could fly, then changed switly into a large black bird. There was a strange green tint to her feathers, which rattled almost like metal. Her long black beak curved downward just a touch, and her green eyes glittered. She cawed and took off straight from the ground, gliding upwards until she was over Jocun's head by a few feet, soaring after him and through the gates.

Noah couldn't help but smile at the giant bird Sami had become fairly impressed. From there she took off with great speed, passing Jocun's steady jog laughing as she did it daring him to catch up to them. She wasn't as fast as Sami in her bird form, but she was quite close to the same speed, she just had to dodge trees and rocks. Within no time, she passed through the gates and waved good bye to the people knowing they would just see an auburn blur as her hair was swept away in the breeze.

Jocun made no comment about the obvious difference between their speeds. He'd either have to hitch a ride, or just catch up when he could. He had no speedy morphs. For now, he just kept jogging. If nothing came to mess with Sami in the air, perhaps he would ask for a ride.

Sami looked down to see Noah streaking past Jocun. She noted that Jocun wasn't as fast as either of them, and apparently didn't have any morphs that would keep up with them, or else he may have used one. She cirled downwards to fly about a foot above Jocun's head, close enough for him to hear her talk with a slight caw to her voice. "Need a ride, Jocun?"

"Seems like it, doesn't it?" He said, stopping near her. "I don't have anything built for speed. I'm not sure how Noah moves that quickly, personally."

Noah stops near some trees panting and collapses as she watches them converse, but doesn't bother to listen. Leopard's were meant for sprinting, not long distances, now she needed to catch her breath. Her heart was pounding in her chest trying to burst from it's cage as she tried to take slow breathes. She couldn't help but chuckle to herself, for she knew she could do better than that small distance, it was only about 200 feet maybe more, that she had gone. She exercised frequently, so she knew if she tried she could do better. Maybe I should ask for a ride too so I don't wear myself out...mmm, stubborn or no stubborn, such hard choices. She though as her heart finally began to slow.

Grun had fallen asleep during the exchange between all of the humans. However when Sami had put him in a tree the sudden movement roused him. He looked up to see the man jogging away as well as Noah sprinting at a very quick pace. He did not see Sami, but noticed a bird that flew very near Jocun. Giving no more thoughts to it Grun spread his wings, caught an up draft and flew towards the group.

Within a few moments he had caught up to them and since Sami was nowhere to be seen he landed right near Noah. He ****ed his head curiously at her and recognized her as the female that had spoken to Larry and Sami by the lake. He hopped a little closer and began nuzzling her neck with his head.

Noah saw the bird that was a constant companion of Sami's land near her. She couldn't help but laugh as it nuzzled her neck because it tickled. She waved her hand at the bird to get it to stop, not wanting to smack it away because she knew they wouldn't be happy if she injured Larry's bird. Noah readjusted herself against the tree so she was sitting up and pet the bird's head giving it the attention she thought it wanted.

"What was your name again? Grun I think she called you. Hello Grun." She smiled, feeling kind of foolish for talking to a bird, only hoping it would understand her.

When Noah asked him if his name was Grun, the raven looked right at her and bobbed his head up and down in what could be perceived as a nod. Although Grun did not have the ability to speak, like parrots and ****atoos, he did understand language. Grun had been Larry's friend since Larry was born. It was custom for Druid's to have an animal companion presented to them at birth. According to the custom of the Druids, the parents would choose an animal they felt was right for their child. Larry's parents had decided that a Raven would be the wisest choice. Grun began once again nuzzling Noah's neck.

Noah swatted at the bird again, purposefully missing. She stood up and glared at the bird, no longer finding it funny, but thinking it disturbing that a bird had such advanced thoughts. She itched at her neck and had a spasm run through her body at the odd thought. She pulled her hair out of its bindings and let the damp deep red brown hair fall around her, now protecting her neck from the flirting bird. She turned back to Sami and Jocun.

"Would you two hurry up, we don't have all day!!" She yelled back to the pair getting a little anxious being near an intelligent bird. And I thought I had actually seen the strangest things there were already. Who knew a smart bird could top it? She thought to herself refusing to look at the bird by choice. Noah had nothing against the bird, she just had never been exposed to truly intelligent animals that weren't lycanthropes.

Grun looked at Noah with a sad look in his eyes and let loose a cry that was filled with that sadness and fear. He didn't mean to hurt the woman, but he was just so lonely without his friend and master. If Grun could he would have rode on Sami's shoulder, however he had not seen her and suspected that the bird flying near the man who had introduced himself as Jocun to Sami was indeed Sami herself. Grun hung his head and began making cooing sounds that sounded almost like crying as the loss of his friend weighed heavily upon him.

The mountain rises before them and the Gates close behind them with a mighty crash. Their way back has been closed and their only path is forward. Across the open expanses of land there are strewn many corpses of all manner of creature. There are fallen Barbarians, Demonic Imps, War Elephants, and other strange and unidentifiable creatures. All of these corpses are begining to get torn apart by the vultures as well as other scavengers.

Even though Qual-Kehk said that Larry came through and killed the Demons on his way up, there are still a few Demonic Imps scattered about. These Imps pose very little threat and are not that dangerous when fighting them individually. Further up the mountain there is a small collection of huts gathered around a central point. These huts are where the Mountain Barbarians live and it is a days journey from the village as well as a days journey to the Ice Caves. The Mountain Barbarians know that comrades of Larry are coming to help him and await their arrival with beds for them to rest and supplies that will last them through the Ice Caves.

Sami noddeto Jocun. The easiest thing she could think of was just increasing her size. So she did. She let her form grow in size until she was big enough for Noah to join too, seeing how she had collapsed on the ground. Sami eyes her with one of her large green eyes and let out a loud caw, ruffling her wings.

"I am hurrying! Shifting takes time, especially to something of big enough size to carry both of you." She finished her size change and nodded to Jocun, letting him climb on. She made sure her feathers were smoothed out along her back so as to not hurt her friends, but the rest f her feathers were steel sharp in case of an attack. She hopped once or twice to cover the distance between her and Noah, dipping her head so Noah could climb on too.

Sami turned a large green eye to Grun, letting her vocal chords change to human ones for a moment so that he could tell it was her. "Do not worry, Grun. We will rescue Larry. He will not be lost to us." She let her vocal chords shift back as she turned to face the summit.

Noah looks back at the bird with wide eyes, though still hidden behind the sunglasses. And now he is crying? Could this get any stranger? She sighs and watches Sami grow even larger when she thought she was at her max size. When Sami reaches speaking distance, Noah raises her eye brow at her.

"I am impressed. Extremely impressed." She smiled at the large bird and climbed on behind Jocun. She adjusted until she was comfortable and moved her feet out of the way of Sami's wings. She hesitated with her hands and then questioned Jocun.

"Do you mind if I wrap my arms around you so I don't fall off? I have nowhere else to put them." She made her voice sound flat, just stating facts so he wouldn't read into it.

((Never mind the size I got a better plan))

Grun looked up at the sound of Sami's voice and was startled by what he saw. A large black bird was right in front of him and it looked like Jocun was on it's back and Noah was climbing on as well. This had to be Sami and from the looks of it she was clearly the faster flyer. Grun spread his wings to their four foot span, caught a head wind and flew up onto Sami's back. He found a place to nestle down in front of Jocun, but was a couple of feet away so the man couldn't reach Grun. If Grun were to lose his grip however the man would provide safety. He gave a loud caw as if to signal his eagerness to get moving.

"Go ahead and grab on, Noah." Jocun said, not mentioning the last time she got really close to him. This wasn't really the time for that. "Now that we're all set, let's go." He lowered his body, and tried to get a grip on Sami's skin instead of feathers so he wouldn't accidentally pull any out.

Sami nodded, feeling Grun nestle into her feathers, quickly changing them into soft feathers as well. "I have to warn you, because I am so large right now, and I am keeping some feathers smooth and others sharp, I will only be able to carry us a short wat. But hopefulle it will be enough for a while." She opened her wings to their tremendous wingspan, stretching them up so as to not hit too many trees. She had to bend them in some to sweep them downwards, her wing tips shredding a few branches off nearby trees as she flapped up until they were above the trees, then soared higher, letting the wind catch her. She drifted upwards until she was as high as she could go, turning towards the mountain some more as she soared, flapping occassionally.

Jocun noticed there were still some creatures on the mountain. He wasn't sure if he should try shooting them so they wouldn't be able to report their position to the imp's master, or leave them alone in the hopes that Sami and them would go relatively unnoticed.

Noah wraps her arms around Jocun not too tight but just enough to stay on. Her hair blows in the wind as Sami lifts off the ground sweeping behind her in a red wash. She notices the creatures below them as Jocun does and nearly reads his mind when she speaks.

"We should leave them be. We need to focus on what is in the air and save them for a future problem. Besides, I personally don't want to waste the ammo on them." She has to yell into the air to be heard as it tries to take  her voice backwards.

Sami spotted the creatures just as the others did, but did not hear what Noah said. She soared higher until she knew she was far enough away that they only looked like a bird in the sky, instead of a huge bird with passengers. She flapped on, the mountain steadily rising above them, making her have to fly higher, into the thinner atmosphere. When she reached about as high as she could go, she leveled off and soared around the side of the mountain. "This is about as far as I can go for now. We are about..." She tried to gauge the distance, but wasn't sure. "Maybe between a fourth and a third of the way up the mountain. Help me look for a safe spot to land."

"Agreed!" Jocun said to Noah over the noise of wind and flapping wings.

"Can you see the ice caves, Sami!? Or perhaps the barbarian village!?" He kept a sharp eye out for both of those, as well as any flying beasts that may come. so far it had been easy enough, but they were just getting started.

As Sami flew on with Jocun and Noah and Grun on her back the Barbarian village came into view below them. It was nothing more than a half dozen wooden huts laid out in a wide circle. There was a large clearing in the middle of the circle and a few Barbarians could be seen walking about.

Sami nodded and let out a loud caw as she spotted the Barbarian village, letting Jocun and Noah know she did, but also warning the Barbarians to an extent. She didn't want them to think some huge creature out of nowhere was dropping in on them. Even if that was the case. She began to circle downwards, tightening the circle as she went until she landed in the clearing in the middle of the huts. Sami bent her head forward and body to the side so her companions could slide off, before her form began to melt back into her own body. The cloak had fallen off of her when she first turned into a raven. so she was now naked before the Barbarians. Not that she cared. Grun was now sitting on her shoulder, because she shifted underneath him.

Jocun got off Sami, and seeing that she didn't have any clothes, began taking his armor off so he could give her his shirt. Because of their size, the shirt would also droop down to cover all her private areas. Though she didn't seem put off by being unclothed. "Here. You can wear this." He said, handing her the shirt.

Noah saw the little huts right after Sami cawed and had to squint her eyes to make sense of it. She shook her head shook off the nerves of meeting more potentially dangerous people and slid off of the large bird once they landed. She smiled slightly as she watched Jocun strip down to offer his shirt to Sami.

"Gentleman? Really? I'm learning something new every step I take here." Noah remarked light heartedly, not meaning it as an insult. She had a feeling she would get to know them both a lot better than she had expected on this journey. She looked out at the barbarians for their leader to give them more instructions.

Title: Re: GESB: Sanctuary Dimension

When the large bird had appeared the Barbarians watched it warily. The scout Qual-Kehk had sent out earlier had told them that the portal had appeared and they knew to expect comrades of the Druid Larry to come soon after. This was unexpected, but they knew of shape-shifters so they were not alarmed. They watched as the large bird transformed into a young woman that had an unhealthy green tint to her skin as well as being nude. They watched as a Paladin took off his armor and handed her his shirt to cover her. There was also another young woman as well who looked like an Assassin and wore a strange object over her eyes to indicate she was perhaps blind.

A tall, voluptuous woman walked up to the trio and having heard what the Paladin said replied "Well forgive us noble Paladin for not being able to live up to your high standards, but you will find that Barbarians would gladly lay down their lives rather than dishonor someone." she said in a cynical tone of voice. She looked back at the crowd of Barbarians and immediately they dispersed and went about their work. She looked back at the trio and saw a raven sitting on the shoulder of the ill looking nude woman and recognized it as Grun.

She then spoke to all of them "Greetings, comrades of Larry, I am Haleth of the Mountain Barbarians. We reside here because we wish to live closer to the Wild Land. I am somewhat surprised that I see you here now for it has been at least three weeks since Larry passed through here to the Summit. Please feel free to rest a while before you continue your journey as I am sure shifting is tiresome. I would also gladly offer you a Barbarian cloak for you to cover yourself with." Haleth said while inclining her head slightly towards Sami. She looked to Noah and said "Although I have heard of your people, Assassin, this is the first I have ever laid eyes upon one of your kind. It would be an honor to perhaps spar with you one day to see if your skills are as good as the stories say they are."

Haleth pointed towards a large alcove in the mountain that allowed the Barbarians to gather in one place and be able to look out upon the expanse of nature. From the alcove they could see an endless forest, similar to the one at the Bar, as well as a large lake in the far distance. "I will gather the tribe there so that way you may ask any questions you have about the mountain. I would also like to inform you that my scouts have reported to me on the approaching storm and someting worries me. They told me that it is not behaving like a natural storm would. It seems to move at varying speeds and at times seems to stop completely and it also changes directions irrationally." Haleth spoke with worry in her voice as she glanced at the small village. A village that may not survive the coming storm as well as the people that could be killed during the storm was what Haleth saw.

"I have concluded that it is the product of serious dark magic and I fear that Larry may be involved with the way that it is behaving. My theory is that Baal has sensed your arrival and fears that you may change the outcome of the battle in Larry's favor so he created the storm to prevent you from ascending Mount Arreat. I also believe that Larry is using all of his power to try to drive off and divert the storm, but I am not sure how much longer he can last." Haleth says with concern in her voice as she walks towars the alcove.

Sami smiled and took the shirt from Jocun, nodding her thanks as she manged to slip it over Grun and onto her body, letting it hang down to cover her private areas to. The fabric was itchy against her skin, but she would probably have to get used to it. Sami noticed avery well endowed female Barbarian approach them, and she bowed slightly to her. It was a custom on her home planet to bow to those with higher power. She watched the woman closely with her piercing green eyes, gasping when she said it had been thre weeks since Larry had arrived. Her eyes grew dimmer and dimmer as she listened to the woman's report, starting to lose hope that Larry was alive. But the woman said the cause of the storm fluctuating was due to Larry, so he must still be alive. She followed the woman immediately as she moved off to the alcove where she would gather her Barbarian tribe. "I actually would prefer a cloak." She looked back at Jocun apologetically. "They usually seem to be smoother than shirts." This was all she couldsay, her voice small and sad, as she followed the Barbarian leader.

"I'm sorry if my statement was too offensive, Haleth." Jocun said. He hadn't really meant to be heard by the locals. "In any case, walking around without clothes is typically odd for Humans."

He really didn't like the news that it had been weeks in this dimension. what kind of hardships must Larry have gone through as his friends didn't even know time passed faster here? Did he even have hope yet that they would come? Haleth thought he was still alive, so Jocun wouldn't abandon his mission.

"You can wear what you want, Sami. Haleth, we come from a different place where apparently time passes more slowly. We didn't know about the difference, so we thought we had more time than we really did." He said as he followed her.

Haleth inclined her head slightly to the woman and said "Very well, Shifter." before walking into a nearby hut. She came out with a cloak that was a dark blue in color and was about ankle length. It was woven out of a very odd material that was very smooth to the touch and  light weight, but would be able to keep Sami warm. "Will this suffice for you, Shifter?" Haleth asked in her strong yet, feminine tone of voice.

Haleth listened to the Paladin as he apologized and explained about where they were from and how time was different. "I accept your apology, Paladin and I agree about walking around without clothing." Haleth said. "As to the difference in time that is not an issue right now. I understand you are worried about Larry as am I, but you must have more faith in him. He is the slayer of Mephisto, the Prime Evil Lord of Hatred and Diablo, the Prime Evil Lord of Terror. Though this is his greatest and deadliest challenge you must understand that he has proven himself worthy." Haleth spoke of Larry's accomplishments with a gleam in her eye as well as a hopeful tone in her voice.

She then stopped walking and turned towards the Paladin and said "I hope you realize that the only reason you are allowed on this sacred mountain is because you are Larry's comrades. He proved himself worthy to pass through the Gates of Mount Arreat, however you have not proven your worth. I suggest that you no longer make excuses or apologies and simply do all you can to help Larry and destroy Baal before he attains his goal." Haleth said in a voice that was slightly menacing before turning and walking towards the alcove where the Barbarians were already beginning to gather.

Sami smiled and bowed again before taking the cloak gently. "Thank you, lady Haleth." She ran her fingers over the fabric, savoring its soft yet warm feel. She donned the cloak and continued to follow Haleth, Jocun, and Noah to the alcove, where the Barbarians were already gathering.

Noah smirked when Haleth said she wanted to spar with her knowing that she didn't know what she would be getting into. A small ****y moment for her, but she let it pass and just listened to the conversation proceed, not commenting because the woman seemed to be quick to temper. She began to ponder what a storm could possibly do to slow them to a halt. Rain, or even a blizzard can be passed, what more could happen than a bit of weather. She didn't want to say anything and sound foolish, so Noah just kept silent and followed.

"I will not abandon the mission until Larry's status is confirmed." Jocun said. Apparently the fact that there were strangers on the mountain didn't put Haleth at ease. Maybe she would rather her own people go, but if they were capable they would already be on their way. Now it was up to three people she didn't know, and he had already stepped on her toes with the comment that a bunch of barbarians might oggle a naked woman's body. Truth be told, his own host was bothered by the thought of Sami neing nude nearby.

Haleth walked into the alcove where the rest of the Barbarians in the village were seated on a long wooden bench that fit snug against the rock wall behind them. She sat in the center of the group and faced the trio of beings. "First off, Assassin, Paladin and Shifter perhaps you could introduce yourselves and tell us your names. After that feel free to ask us anything about the mountain and the path you must now travel and we will tell you all we can to help." Haleth spoke in a voice that communicated strength and femininity.

Jocun stood before the group, thinking about what he should and shouldn't say about himself. Certainly not everything, but enough for them to hopefully trust him.

"My name is Jocun 119. I come from another dimension where I am the leader of a large military force in service of the rulers of our...kingdom. I am a warrior and diplomat who is not opposed to the use of force, but prefers to talk things out when possible. I am not a close friend of Larry's, but came because he was kidnapped from the place I was visiting. In order to stop others from being taken, I came to help solve this issue."

Sami smiled softly at Jocun's introduction, and decided to go next. She took a step forward, the cloak Haleth had given her swishing about her ankles. "My name is Sami. I am a very close friend of Larry's. I have gotten to know him over the mere hours we spent together in the dimension where we met." She patted Grun on her shoulder. "As you saw when we landed in your village here, I can change my shape. I am hoping this will be enough to suffice when battling the people who have Larry."

Noah watched them speak in turn, then when they came to her she stepped forward and spoke loud enough to be heard.

"My name is Noah, and I as well shift forms, but to only one. My form is.." She paused for a moment as she removed her sunglasses and stared out at them all with her piercing forest green leopard eyes. "..a leopard. I had only met Larry once, but the way he looked at Sami was more than enough to prove to me he was someone to be saved. Now seeing him as all of your hero, it proves that in spades." Noah folded up her sunglasses and tucked them in her shirt, letting them hang.

Grun had been dozing on Sami's shoulder until she patted him on the head which woke him up. As he looked around at the Barbarians seated in front of them he became slightly nervous. Grun felt the loneliness well up inside his little bird body and nuzzled Sami's neck for comfort.

*******************************************************************************************

The Barbarians respectfully listened to each of the newcomers introductions as well as an explanation of who they were and how they knew Larry. The Barbarians did receive a bit of a shock when she removed her eye coverings and revealed that she could indeed see. The reason for the covering was a mystery, but they decided not to question it. Likewise the Paladin had a very strange name considering it had numbers in it. The one named Sami was strange as well considering her skin had a green tint to it and it looked unhealthy, but she seemed perfectly fine. All in all this was indeed a strange group of individuals, but they seemed to be willing to do whatever it took to save Larry.

Haleth remained seated as she spoke "Jocun 119, Sami, and Noah. I welcome you to our humble village here in the Wild Lands. It sounds like you each have impressive skills and I believe that you will be very helpful to Larry. I must say though Sami that while your shifting form was impressive, it will be useless from here on out. The mountain path narrows significantly and there would not be room to land anywhere. The Ice Caves are about 3/4 of a day from here so I would suggest you rest here for the night. Is there anything you wish to ask us concerning the path ahead of you though?"

"It may be best to make the trip to the caves during the day. The sun setting while we're already inside wouldn't really matter. I say we accept lodgings, and I'll be willing to do some things to help pay for our stay." Jocun said. He didn't want to be a freeloader.

Sami smiled softly as Grun awoke on her shoulder, and she pet him more as he nuzzled against her. She frowned a slight bit at Haleth's tone when directed at her. Sami could make any path, narrow or wide, and could always make a landing spot or stopping place for herself. But she bit back her tongue, quite literally, to keep from angering this powerful woman. Instead, she decided to go ahead and follow Jocun's lead.

"I think it would be best to make it in daylight, also. I personally can handle myself just sleeping in a tree or something, but I would still like to help pay for our stay. I do not wish to be a burden on your village, and I am sure my comrades do not either, as already stated by Jocun." She tried to keep it simple and light, and that was the best she could do. Her hands were balled into fists beneath her cloak from Haleth belittling her, even though the older woman knew her own mountains. But she did not know Sami.

Haleth was waiting for Noah to say something, but it seemed as if she was lost in thought as she stared at the expanse of the Wild Lands forest below. She decided to proceed without her and hope that she would be able to travel the next day. "It is settled then. You three shall rest in the scout's hut tonight." She indicated a medium sized hut that could house the three of them, but might be a little cramped. "Tonight, we will feast to toast your impending victory, the safe return of Larry Foulke the Druid, and the death of Baal!"

Although Haleth started speaking in her normal tone of voice, she was yelling by the end of her speech. When she yelled about the death of Baal all of the Barbarians quickly stood up and yelled at the top of their lungs "DEATH TO BAAL, DEATH TO BAAL DEATH TO BAAL!" They began to chant over and over again as it echoed around the mountain it seemed as if Mount Arreat itself was chanting "DEATH TO BAAL!" as well.

"Thank you." He said.

Jocun was normally against celebrating before the mission was accomplished, but didn't say anything. He also didn't say anything about them all being in one tent that wasn't incredibly spacious. certainly not one worthy of his status, but he would manage. Sometimes for the sake of the better good, one just has to rough it.

<<Speaking of feeding, I don't think you brought any Kandrona with you.>> Simon said. He rarely talked, but when he did it was about something important.

<<By the Kandrona, I didn't. I'm so used to having easy access to it, I didn't even think. Not a problem, though. We head out tomorrow, and get Larry back to the bar by the next morning, and I should be fine. If it comes to worse, maybe the fact that time goes faster hear means I could wait a week or so.>>

<<Maybe. I just know it won't be easy telling the council how you died if I go back without you. Besides...you know.>>

<<I do.>> Jocun said. Simon liked him, though he wasn't good at showing emotions.

I would have liked to see it. Will you be bringing Larry back? If so, I'll just act like he and Jocun/Simon went through a lot and have a good friendship and respect for each other. Maybe say that the enemy almost killed him, but Larry saved his life.

Well I was gonna do the cliche enemy takes over my mind and forces me to fight you guys but eventually my emotions ((Specifically love for Sami)) win and I am able to break free of the mind control and together we destroy Baal and all of you are hailed as Heroes and declared worthy in the eyes of everyone and we all have formed deep respect and friendship between us. As for bringing Larry bac I am not sure yet. I had planned on seeing if Sami's charie would like like to stay in the Sanctuary Dimension with me and go from there. Im thinking of creating a new character and bringing him in after I have Lucan leave the GESB, but this is all speculation. I might have Larry come back to reconnect with Jocun and deliver a thanks and give you a special  object that will mark you as a Hero in my world just so we can have closure.

That would have been interesting, especially since I think I stated Jocun's morph is quite powerful but hard to control. So unless Larry was just curb stomping him, there was a chance of Jocun trying to kill him against his will.Unless he was getting beaten up by the demon lord while Sami and Noah fought Larry. Jocun would have really let loose, but only Larry was strong enough to actually defeat the demon.

As soon as Lucan leaves I will have Larry return and give you the mark of the Hero. Which is what I had done. Take Baal's caw and carve a line in your forehead that then heals into a scar that is permanent. It will be a straight line from the top or your forehead and end at the bridge of your nose. It will be about 3/4 of an in wide. That sound epically cool?

That would be cool. He'll say he'll put it back if he ever has to morph. I don't know if Larry knows about Yeerks, or if Jocun would just tell him he needs special medicine every three days, explaining why he had to leave as soon as possible. I remeber him trying to keep his actual species a secret to avoid confusion and such.

Larry has no clue what a Yeerk is and was actually shocked about your gun since he lives in a pre gunpowder era. Big beliver in magic and doesnt understand science at all so keep it simple.
