Basically, I'll write down a whole bunch of Top Five things concerning the Animorphs Series. They are, as follows, Favourite Books, Least Favourite Books, Favourite Characters, Least Favourite Characters, Favourite Aliens
KEEP IN MIND
Try to avoid a situation where you list one character or book as a Top Five. For example (LISA) don't list Marco's books as your top Five. Or (rest of Rafians) listing all of Cassie's books in the least favourite section. Remember that each person has the right to his or her own opinion. Let's try to avoid any unecessary outbursts like "That was a stupid book", or "Why do you like that". But I don't expect that from anyone on here. I just feel like it should be said.

Not my fault those are the best books. :P Actually, oddly enough, Marco's books only make up three of my top ten. It speaks to the strength of KA's characters that every Ani gets an entry on my ten favorite books, all the characters have such believable psychology.

Whoa, really? I'm not offended or anything, by the way, but I just think it's very interesting that your least favorite book is one that I put in my top five.
Also, I changed my list a bit because I'd apparently blocked #47 out of my memory, haha.

Adding to the TOP FIVE's will be the Top Five Favourite Animorph Battles/Missions, Top Five Worst/lamest Animorphs Missions, Top Five Greatest Animorph Covers, Top Five Worst/Lamest Animorphs Covers.
1) Top Five Favourite Animorph Missions/Battles
The Mission for the AMR; was probably the smartest mission as far as planning goes. Brilliant
The Battle for Leera; was just epic to see the Animorphs on another planet.
The Howler Battle; Just epic
The Rhino/Elephant stampede on the Mariott Resort; was just win :p
The First Raid on the Yeerk Pool; because it was the first
2) Top Five worst/lamest Animorph Missions/Battles
The entirety of the Helmacron fiasco; was so irksome to read, if I must be honest.
Preventing some teen movie star from getting yeerked; as if one pop star's infestation makes a difference
The Cow-meat incident; I'll admit...I didn't read this one. I read maybe the first two chapters...Enough said?
All of Rachel's raids from the Weakness; she could have killed them all!
The Mission to the Chapman house; I just didn't find fit interesting.
3)Top Five Greatest Animorphs Covers
Animorphs 43: The Test; Because it gives us our first glimpse at a Taxxon
Megamorphs 4: Back to Before; Is exactly how I imagined the kids getting together. It's just amazing!
Animorphs 34: The Prophecy; Was just eye catching. I guess it has something to do with the Hork-Bajir
Animorphs 26: The Attack; Because it shows Jake's Battle morph
Animorphs 25: The Extreme: Because it has a cool animal on the cover!
4) Top Five Worst/Lamest Animorphs Covers
Animorphs 13: The Change; Love the story, hate the cover. I understand the cover morph, but think it's lame. Reverse of the Encounter
Animorphs 28: The Experiment; Come on...A cow?
Animorphs 14: The Unknown; was just...bland, for me. But most of Cassie's covers are like that.
Animorphs 48: The Return; For the first book to show a non-morph...Wow! Rachel with abs and claws? Couldn't give her the flytrap?
Visser; Despite the story's quality, this cover does nothing for me. Worst of the Chronicles/Megamorphs covers.

- #21 when they're surrounded and David tries turning on them
- #21 David vs. Jake
8. Top Five Worst/Lamest Missions/Battles
Pretty much all of the battles or missions from my top least favorite books.
9. Top Five Greatest Animorphs Covers
Probably only MM4 Back to Before. When I was younger I used to like a lot of the Cassie covers, but pretty much only because I liked a lot of the animals she morphed (dolphin, wolf, horse, butterfly...). Idk now I just don't like them :/
10. Top Five Worst/Lamest Animorphs Covers
Mostly all of them, IMO.

About the Marco's dad thing... If he hadn't discovered Z-Space, the Yeerks wouldn't have been all over him. He said it himself in #10 by quoting Marco's mom: "If you avoid the military, they won't come for you."
Obviously, he forgot that and decided to work on military stuff, including the idea of using Z-Space as a weapon. Thus, by not heeding his wife's words, he started the path that lead to #54 and deserves the blame.

5) The destruction of the Yeerk Pool

Poor Peter... that seems a little unfair how you're blaming him like that. I think the Yeerks were starting to grow impatient as it was and a full out war was bound to happen sooner or later. I think it just so happened that the main event of #45 was the fact that Visser One (as Eva) was destroyed and Visser Three got promoted was what really caused the events to unfold as they did.

#5, yes. #2, yes. The main reason is the fact that he caused the Animorphs to retreat to the Hork-Bajir valley, which #2 accelerated.

Not to be a totally obnoxious Peter fan, but his Z-Space discovery had nothing to do with the military. He wanted to use it for communication. He was excited by the idea of finding extraterrestrial life. The only military stuff he did was work for a company whose other departments were working on military (#10).
I mean, he fails hard, but not THAT hard.
I hated #41 because the moral at the end seemed to be catering to Cassie's whims was more important than Rachel and Marco's lives. It was a hugely unflattering depiction of Cassie and of Jake and a total perversion of their relationship, IMO. Throw in some saccharine scenes about child artists, some 'tee hee ironic!' bit about Marco being a Visser, and a completely unimaginative and unbelievable dream setting and it's easily my least favorite book KA has ever (ghost)written, and that includes the entirety of Remnants.

. . . Darn it! I can't quite bring myself to completely disagree with you on any of those points. Curse you! Curse you for being so poignantly correct and forcing me to question one of my favorite books!
Seriously, though, yeah, okay, I will admit it could have been a better book. I guess I never really minded the perversion of Jake/Cassie, since I was never a huge fan of that pairing to begin with. But I do actually think it could have been a lot better if the ending was left truly ambiguous. I think it was kinda sorta supposed to be ambiguous-ish, but they hinted so strongly about which option Jake chose that it didn't really work out that way, which is a shame. :-\
IMHO (and I'm not trying to start fights with any Cassie-fans, but) Cassie does have some minor characteristics of a Black Hole Sue (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BlackHoleSue) throughout the the majority of the series, so the fact that she plays that role in one book is hardly cause to hate the book.

Toby deciding to sacrifice about half of her people for nothing more than vague and meaningless concepts that they surely did not understand
The Cow incident
The Andalite porta-potty
Trying to get the Blue box from David
The campaign against Mr. Tennant in #35
3)Top Five Greatest Animorphs Covers
The inside cover of Megamorphs 2, with all the Anis and a dinosaur, rawr!
As much as I hate to say anything nice about Alternamorphs, they did have pretty sweet covers

The Andalite Chronicles
The Message (#4)
4) Top Five Worst/Lamest Animorphs Covers
The Familiar (#41)
The Return (#48)
The Resistance (#47) (come on, a beaver? Really?)
The Encounter (#3) (mainly just because the cut-out keeps getting caught on my other books)
The Forgotten (#11) (in part because Scholastic promptly decided that Jake's battle morph MUST be a jaguar, right?)

IMHO (and I'm not trying to start fights with any Cassie-fans, but) Cassie does have some minor characteristics of a Black Hole Sue (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BlackHoleSue) throughout the the majority of the series, so the fact that she plays that role in one book is hardly cause to hate the book.
It's mostly just that in that book, it's so irrefutable. I really love Cassie but that was just the worst when the whole book seemed to revolve around how her precious fragile feelings are more important than other teammates' lives.

Baranth, how, how, how can you not like TEC? That was my favorite, and in my opinion, best book in the whole series. What about it turns you off?

I speak for quite a few people here when I say this.
The Ellimist Chronicles either confuses the heck out of people or makes no sense whatsoever. In my case, it's neither.
For me it's because Applegate left out the most recent 65 million years of the Ellimist's life. We don't know everything about that time, like she thinks we do.
Did he intentionally let Tobias allow Crayak's rock to hit Earth? Did he even wonder why it had to be TOBIAS, of all people?
What about the return of the Pemalites to Earth? Was that his doing?
And what of the Andalites? We don't see ANYTHING on how they went from sign language to Escafil Devices and FTL travel!

That would have made my top five if it wasn't for the Kafit bird thing.
Maybe there was something I missed...but why was Ax so bugged that the Visser morphed a Kafit bird?
I mean, Alloran had morphing power as part of the military, and it was stated that Andalites often morphed Kafit birds for fun...so...why the freak out?

3) Top Five Favourite Animorphs Characters (in order of importance)
- Marco (as much as I love Jake, I believe Marco might've actually been the better leader in the long run if Jake wasn't so good at managing tempers because in the final arc, ruthlessness is exactly what they needed and Jake had to go through losing his family to get there, while Marco had that quality inherently. Aside from that, he was just a surprisingly deep character and in my opinion had the largest amount of quotes in the widest spectrum; hilarious, depressing, heartwarming, awesome.)
- Aftran 942 (Aftran, Aftran, Aftran... I told myself I only found her to be a compelling character, but I finally knew I loved her when I was distraught about her exit despite her getting a happy ending. Ugh. I always wished one of Cassie's subsequent books would open with her asking advice from whale!Affy as dolphin!Cassie, and I remember secretly hoping in the midpoint of #54 when Cassie and Marco tackled Jake into the ocean that all 3 of them would meet up with / have a chat with her... ridiculous, I know.)
- Ax (I normally don't think much of the alien co-leads in sci-fi series, but Ax is just so well-written that I quickly developed a soft spot for him and eventually legitimately enjoyed his books. My heart just went out to him - he was an Andalite youth outside of his planet and away from his people. He dealt surprisingly well, and I've always felt the Animorphs were a little more dismissive of him than they should've been.)
- David (not that I actually enjoyed his character, but his trilogy had some of the most compelling scenes in the entire series and are some of the books I've re-read the most. His entire plan to take out the Animorphs was actually getting along quite smoothly for a while there, considering he was up against 6 opponents who had been morphing and in the game for about a year longer than him. He also had a very charged final conversation with Rachel in The Return, which is the only part worth reading in that book.)
- The Drode (sometimes, less is more, which is the case with him - I just love how succinctly he can summarize the individual Animorphs in the shortest and harshest words possible - he's just one of those villain cronies you love to hate.)
I don't really feel like covering the other sections. Some of them just repeat themselves with slight differences, and I doubt I have any interesting comments to add anyway.
