Title: Possible seers born in Yeerk captivity
Post by: Dogman15 on September 11, 2016, 08:00:52 PM
We're told that after Dak Hamee, Toby Hamee (his great-granddaughter) was the next seer. But is it possible that another seer (or more than one) was born while in Yeerk captivity? When would the Yeerks have discovered it? Obviously, if any were born, they didn't survive past the end of the war. But maybe with their intelligence, they tried blending in, but once they tried using their smarts to escape, they were caught, discovered to be a seer, and executed.

What do you think?

Wasn't there only one per generation?

I guess so, yeah. There was Dak Hamee, Seerow Hamee (in captivity, I think), and Toby Hamee. That seems to be one per generation.

And in Adamheap's story Seer, there was Taku Kelmut (born in 2008 or so; Toby was born in late 1997 or early 1998). https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9525996/1/Seer (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9525996/1/Seer)

I doubt Seerow was a Seer, but maybe!

We've never been given an answer on how rare they are. There could be several per generation. The Yeerks would probably try to weed them out, though...

If they were, I doubt the Yeerks would let them live.

The Hork-Bajir were for all intents and purposes, dumb muscle. If the Seers did pop up between Dak and Toby's time, while in captivity, I imagine they would be fodder for experiments and punishment duties.

Didn't Q say something like, one in 10,000 accidentally has the "Seer Gene" ? Maybe on the homeworld, the communities were small and distant enough so that if several seers exisited at the same time, they wouldn't meet, and it would happen rarely enough to seem like once in a generation or so?

Even if some seers were born in Yeerk captivity, it wouldn't really make much difference as they would be overruled by the Yeerk anyway.

Ah yes, good old Quatzhinnikon.

That "1 in 10,000" thing wasn't a problem for Adam's Seer story.   ^-^

I avoided discussion of how many Horks were present in 2009 =P Maybe it became mathematically likely!

I like that idea/response.
