Title: Audiobook revival -- Auditions
Post by: Mr. Guy36 on February 15, 2014, 01:55:34 AM
I'm honestly probably deluding myself here. I want to do this. I think the better way to run this is to get people to crank through a bunch of work all at once, then let me edit and release. That's what most people have done, and I'm really only missing a few key parts to get some significant work out.

Sadly, I need to run another wave of auditions. I lost contact with the previous Visser 3, and Duff has contacted me and decided he wouldn't have the time to commit to more work.

Therefore, I am opening auditions for Marco and Visser 3. Full details can be found here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IloX-hFVYEfT0VXtUU9FJawVrd5_21tJzP-Ou2OF_9M/edit?usp=sharing).

If you try out for Marco, please be prepared to do retcon recordings to catch up.

Read about this in The Revitalaissance thread. I have a great microphone so I may audition for Ax, but I am not good at being committed to projects.

Well several of us have had success by working in maniacal bursts: do as much recording as you can stand in two weeks or something, then wait for me to do all the editing.

Also my Ax is more like the one from the series and less like the one from your audiobooks. For my audition recording, if I make one, should I try to emulate Gankhruun as Ax?

Absolutely do your own take. You'd be rerecording Chapters 1-12, and I'd swap you in. Standard procedure when we recast (at least this far into the project)

Great! I'll try to record my audition soon, but the deadline is pretty far away so I may take my time.

yeeeaaaah... doubting that i could do any of those. somehow. gut instinct. ;)

that said, if you ever want to switch it up with a new voice for spare female cameos and other nameless parts, let me know. ...and if you need a reading for those, also just shoot me a line.

these are fun. i'm a tince sad that i wasn't around to see the beginning of it all. i would've gone out for a part or two. congrats for rounding the gang up and getting this rebooted!

I sent my audition. Now I just have to wait until the deadline.

Well...audition away.  I hope it's suitable.  While I'm experienced with acting and theater, I've never before tried voice acting.  On an unrelated note, waiting is the hardest part about auditions...

Bonus points (not useful ones) for sending me FLACs. It really doesn't matter for auditions, but I like seeing them.

Actually I did send FLAC's because Audacity couldn't export as MP3 without an additional library, which I didn't particularly feel like downloading when there was an alternative.  :P  Considering I don't have a studio (lol), I think I did pretty decent at minimizing the background noise and mouth sounds.

I sent two files, one for Ax and one for V3.  I'd be happy to get either, but Ax would be my preference (as is probably the case with most people.  :P )

Just one weekend left! I've gotten some seriously impressive auditions so far, and I can't wait to share the results with everyone.

Chapman has been fairly underrepresented in auditions, so if anyone else wants to give it a go, I'd welcome it.

Ding-ding! Time is up!

I've been so excited over all the auditions I've gotten. Auditions are now officially closed for these three characters. I now need to go through and make final decisions for each role, then contact the new castmembers and confirm that they can take the role. I hope to have it all done within the week, but as soon as I have all three confirmations, I'll let everyone know.

Sorry I couldn't continue this project. My laptop died and the one I'm using now won't do well.

And here....we...go.

I'm excited to announce our three new castmembers!
Luke (Ossanlin) as Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill
Erinn Nelson as Visser Three
Kevin W as Chapman

I am sending out all the details on submission to new and current castmembers today. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get a hold of Weathel and there's some problems with the drupal site config, so until further notice, we will be managing everything through a Google Drive share. It's not as snazzy as the old site, but it works now, which is more important.

In addition, I'm opening the floodgates on bit parts. All of these parts have less than 25 lines, so I'm not going to go with a full audition process. It's simply first to claim the part. I will also be posting on Reddit, so I'll try to keep the doc up to date with who has been claimed. Instructions and available characters are here. (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1P-BUY-UITudv74hYXy_jMjWaTvngCYLyTSCUlOPRzGs/edit?usp=sharing)

Any questions, comments, random statements, feel free to ask me here or in PM.

Happy to be involved!  ^^  I'm pumped to get started.  :)

Woo! Congrats, Luke ^_^ Also other people who got the other parts who I don't actively know.

Depending on how my living situation goes in the next few weeks, I can probably plunk down one of the bit parts. I'll keep an eye on the .doc and claim one once I'm fairly sure.

If someone drops out or something, I'm willing to play a part. I have a very low voice that I can use too if necessary ;)

You still have unofficial claim on yourself, Mr Ellimist.

Acting's not normally my thing, but it'd be cool to do Visser 3.  Unfortunately, I just realized my voice sounds like crap in recordings.  XD

I'm excited to announce our next round of casting:

We got some very good auditions this time around. I was impressed by a lot of takes as soon as I listened to them, and it was tough to make final choices.

In the upcoming week or so, I'll be getting new castmembers up to speed and into the recording process. I will be away from my editing computer for the next week, but I hope to be right back to editing as soon as I can.

Hey I haven't checked in in...years, but just letting you know that I'm still down to voice Edriss 562 and Mrs. Chapman.

Didn't realize you were trying to get this going again.  Don't know if it is actually going to go further or not since it's been a long time since the last post.  I'm still able and willing to voice Ax where needed, but I think you have all the recordings you need from me for Megamorphs 1.  Anyway, let me know if you need anything from me.

Hello from the great beyond...

I finally have a stable and working computer. I even was able to recover all of my files from my destroyed laptop. I have The Drode, Crayak, and MM1-Tobias recordings. I'm fairly certain I already turned them in; but if they need be resent, I can.

Hey, has it been too long? Is this the right place to post? I would totally be interested in auditioning for this. Not just for The Drode, but for other characters, too.
